Setting up Netsense packet sensor with right traffic feeds in other public clouds(Azure/Oracle etc)

The functionality of Netsense packet sensor software truly depends on the right traffic fed to it in your public cloud IT network. Selecting right computing instances to monitor in your public cloud IT network is crucial for efficient network performance monitoring(NPM). Getting visibility into internal communication of your various computing instances in your public cloud It network is critical for efficient monitoring. VMs/Computing instances running critical application services should be chosen to monitor.

**Note: **Other public cloud vendors like Azure, oracle cloud, etc do not provide traffic/packet mirroring functions and your only option is to use ThoughtData's NetMirror functionality

**Using NetMirror software from ThoughtData on your VMs**

NetMirror software from ThoughtData provides capability to stream traffic from one or more vNICs on your VMs to a destination Netsense VM. The destination Netsense VM should be in same VPC as your source VMs. NetMirror software from ThoughtData is a replacement for traffic mirroring functionality offered by some cloud vendors like AWS/GCP. NetMirror software uses very minimal resources on your VM and continuously captures and streams traffic from source VMs to Netsense VM using high data compression. One Netsense sensor can get traffic streams from multiple NetMirrors. NetMirror software is only a layer 3 function and does not interfere with any other communications or applications on your business critical application server VMs.

The below link provides guidance to setting up NetMirror in your public cloud

Refer to the topic ["How to setup NetMirrors for your Netsense sensor in your private/public cloud" for more details".](../../installtoc/install-netsense/Installing_NetMirror.htm)
