### Setting up promiscuous mode in Vmware hypervisors

**Prerequisite:** Netsense VM is setup and already running on your vmware hypervisor. Follow the steps below to setup promiscuous mode on your hypervisor

Launch your Vmware esxi hypervisor web console.

Check your vswitch configuration.

Identify your vswitch on which your critical VMs are running, In the above example it will be **vswitch0**

Click on Networking and configure a new port group, select the vswitch( In this example vswitch0 on which the VMs are residing) provide a name to port group and enable promiscuous mode "**Accept**" under security settings.

Add port group for your Netsense VM

**Note:** Adding port group for your Netsense VM separates it out from your other VMs and promiscuous mode operates only for your Netsense VM and not for other VMs running in other port groups in same vswitch.

Click on your Netsense VM, Stop the VM. Edit settings , delete the previous vNIC whatever you had configured and associate the new port group to your Netsense VM. Restart your Netsense VM

Your Netsense VM is now ready to monitor all traffic on the vswitch running your critical VMs on the hypervisor.

**Note:** The new port group and its associated vswitch should provide a proper IP address to your Netsense VM to reach Enterprise360.
